OK, here’s the first post in the ’something useful’ category. It is probably ‘old news’ already but I hope it helps someone.
The thing is, it actually isn’t GMail’s fault (I guess). I’ve figured that if you have enabled HTML Validator Firefox extension, after few ‘clicks’ in new GMail, the Firefox freezes (trust me, very frustrating).

It isn’t much but, have you ever seen so wuss-colored error - purple screen of death (even pink, I would say)? LOL
